Permachrome is an effort to find at-risk analog photography, digitize it, and give it context.
Digitize
All photography collections acquired by Permachrome are digitized in their entirety. These are collections, and sometimes single frames, of slides and plates of all formats and processes. The digitization process attempts to stay true to the photograph’s inherent aesthetic and original content.
Describe
The best way to preserve a photograph is through access and context. While research is conducted for every collection, blog entries are meant to give initial insight into the background of the photograph as opposed to an expert’s analysis on the subjects.
